Lipedema is a chronic condition characterized by an abnormal buildup of fat, primarily in the legs and sometimes the arms, that is disproportionate to the rest of the body and resistant to diet and exercise. It mainly affects women and can cause pain, swelling, and easy bruising in the affected areas.

After Surgery you will need a trained therapist to walk with you through your recovery and healing process assuring your results are amazing. Our Therapist will assist assuring that your skin or stiches are not torn, the tissue does not get hard and lumpy and bandage recovering, compression daily and education.

After surgery, it is normal for the body to generate more lymph fluid in response to trauma or injury. This gentle, rhythmic drainage of the lymph nodes will give a helping hand to the lymphatic system as it works to flush away fluid, bacteria, and toxins, stimulate healing defenses, and keep the swelling at a minimum. We have a licensed massage therapist on board that can help you jumpstart the cleansing process and start healing!

Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized form of bodywork that helps to open your body's natural detoxification pathways. MLD is also sometimes called lymphatic drainage massage, although it's not really a massage, but a form of bodywork!This is a treatment to gently direct the traped or stagnent lymph fluid towards the nodes.This can be done on non-surgical clients and after any surgery or more weeks out that has fully healed and no drains or you are just feeling swollen from symptoms of edema and tightness.

Short-stretch bandages:

These bandages are specifically designed for lymphedema and are applied with a specific technique to create a gradient pressure, meaning the pressure is highest at the furthest point from the body and decreases as you move closer. a treatment that uses layers of bandages to reduce swelling in affected limbs. It's a key component of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT)

Kinesiology Tape for Postoperative Sor Runners Swelling

K-tape is a comfortable, breathable alternative that aids in post-op recovery by managing swelling and enabling free movement.
Its special elasticity stimulates lymphatic drainage and circulatory system in the injured area. This both alleviates pain and promotes faster recovery.
Using k-tape along with other therapies, such as the R.I.C.E. method, improves swelling control. It further delivers better rehabilitation results through incorporation of compression garments.
Patients with sensitive skin

Kinesiology tape is an elastic cotton strip. Therapists frequently use it post-operatively as an adjunct to reduce swelling and bruise it is applied directly to the skin. This dynamic movement action gently lifts the skin to increase blood and lymph circulation in the area.

Post Operative Manual Lymph Drainage

After any surgery from your 1st to the 3rd week you will recieve a light-pressure technique that assists the flow of fluid away from a swollen area by using your body’s own systems to move fluid which will reduce pain and swelling, lessen bruising, and promote healing. This includes incisional drainage into your drains, checking bandages and proper garment in stages. If you dont have drains but are in your post op stage you will need to book this session.
